Squaring off in a conference showdown against No. 23 Kentucky at home on Saturday, Auburn pulled out a 29-13 win to open its SEC campaign on a high note. The Tigers ensured that they will remain in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 for another week when the new poll comes out on Sunday. They could even leapfrog a team or two that sat idle in Week 4.

Bo Nix looked excellent in his first start as a sophomore, finishing 16-of-27 as he threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Nix also led the team in rushing, carrying the ball five times for 34 yards. The ground game still needs work on the Plains, as the Tigers finished with 91 net rushing yards on 30 carries. Auburn was outgained by the Kentucky offense, but finished with a three-turnover advantage to run away with the victory.

Gus Malzahn’s team now must turn around and get ready for next week’s showdown on the road in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry against Georgia.
