College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Florida passed their first test with flying colors in Week 4, downing Ole Miss on the road in Lane Kiffin’s Oxford debut. The Gators topped the Rebels 51-35 in a game that was much more lopsided than even that 16-point margin of victory might indicate. Coupled with Oklahoma’s loss in the same time slot, Dan Mullen’s team is sure to push up into the top five of the AP Top 25 as they head into Week 5.
Kyle Trask lit up the Rebels through the air, completing 30 of his 42 passing attempts for 416 yards and six touchdowns. Kyle Pitts hauled in eight of those passes for 170 yards and four receiving scores. No single player stood out in the backfield, but the ground game combined to produce 196 yards on 29 carries. One unsettling part of the win was the fact that Ole Miss managed to gain more than 600 total yards of offense.
Even so, Florida will step up a spot or two in the standings as they prepare for their next showdown, the home opener against former head coach Will Muschamp and his South Carolina Gamecocks at the Swamp on October 3.
