1. The quarterback situation is sticky, to say the least

Not having Jamie Newman to start the year was already going to set this team back and not having JT Daniels fully healthy after transferring in from USC was a major hit. That left the Bulldogs with just a couple of unproven passers in D’Wan Mathis and Stetson Bennett and they both got a shot on Saturday.

There were glowing remarks about Mathis coming out of fall camp and fans were excited to see what he brought to the table but it was clear early on that he wasn’t on his game.

Mathis went 8-for-17 through the air with just 55 yards and an interception. He didn’t throw any touchdown passes in his first career start. He also rushed for just four yards on 10 carries which contradicted his dual-threat distinction.

Bennett finished with 211 yards and two touchdown on 20-of-29 passing and looked like the much better option but we have to remember this was just Arkansas.

The quarterback situation right now is not ideal.
