1. Marvin Mims has a chance to be great

Shattering multiple high school records in the state of Texas is nothing short of remarkable. Especially taking into consideration the level of play as Marvin Mims played at the 6A level.

Mims made an impact in their first contest, going for over 80 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown catch. He continued his play against Kansas State, showcasing his ability to be a red zone threat, alongside a deep threat.

It’s rare to see a true freshman start at any point, let alone to begin the season, specially as a wide receiver at Oklahoma, but Mims shows why he belongs and will follow in the footsteps of other Sooners. Joining the list of greats under Lincoln Riley, such as Dede Westbrook, Marquise Brown and CeeDee Lamb.

For Kansas State this is a colossal upset and adds another feather into the hat for Chris Klieman. Kansas State has a plethora of great young talent on offense and a gritty defense that shut down Oklahoma in the fourth quarter.

The Sooners however, their chances of the playoffs are basically over. The offense was exposed late in the game and Skylar Thompson was once again, Oklahoma’s biggest nightmare.

For the Sooners, they travel to Ames to play the Iowa State Cyclones. Kansas State will be back home, playing Texas Tech.
