Wild weekend of action and upsets led to a lot of movement in college football’s Week 5 AP poll and included the return of the Big Ten and Pac-12 teams.

This was the most anticipated weekend of football so far in the still young college football season as the SEC was going to start their 10-game conference slate and the Big 12 getting their conference play underway after playing their non-conference games a couple of weeks ago.

By the time the day was done, it felt like college football was really back after some big time upsets and some impressive performances.

The biggest upset of the week occurred in Norman, Oklahoma where the third ranked Sooners appeared to be cruising along per usual in Big 12 play and were up 35-14 on Kansas State. Before you knew it, Kansas State led 38-35 and Oklahoma couldn’t overcome three interceptions by Spencer Rattler and a blocked punt that led to a touchdown for the Wildcats.

This is the second year in a row where Oklahoma has lost to Kansas State and turnovers aside, this Oklahoma defense is still really bad. Lincoln Riley has to find a way to fix that unit if Oklahoma wants a prayer at making the playoff.

Mississippi State made a statement against the defending national champs on Saturday, with KJ Costello throwing for over 600 yards and Mike Leach starting his job in Starkville with a bang and LSU might be in for a bit more of a rebuild than originally thought.

Florida looked like the second best team in the SEC with Georgia still having issues on offense and an inability to find a quarterback.

Texas was fortunate to escape a humiliating defeat at the hands of Texas Tech and keep their hopes alive for the playoff and Miami continues to be the most improved team in the country and have set themselves up to make a major statement in two weeks when they travel to Death Valley to take on Clemson.

Here are the winners and losers from the Week 5 AP Top 25.
