5. North Carolina Tar Heels (1-0, 1-0)

The Tar Heels game against Charlotte was canceled after the 49ers entire offensive line was put into quarantine due to Coronavirus concerns. Because of that, the North Carolina will play its first game in three weeks against the Boston College Eagles.

When we last saw the Tar Heels, they dominated the Syracuse Orange in its season opener 31-6. Sophomore quarterback Sam Howell had a good game throwing for over 300 yards, but he had two interceptions. Despite the two picks, the Tar Heels were never threatened by the Orange offense.

What should encourage Tar Heel fans from their first game is how well the defense played. Linebacker Chazz Surratt played like a Butkus award finalist recording nine tackles and two sacks. The Orange offense could not get the run game going against the Tar Heels totaling only 68 rushing yards.

This week the Tar Heels travel to Chestnut Hill to take on the Boston College Eagles. Boston College has had their issues running the football, but Notre Dame transfer Phil Jurkovec has played well so far this season. However, the Heels should take care of business against the Eagles. We’ll see if the Tar Heels defense continues to dominate.
