The fourth week of the 2020 college football season saw two of the most shocking upsets and the most lopsided defeats so far this year.

Each week of the 2020 season continues to be complex and chaotic as more teams enter into the College Football Playoff mix. Just as soon as teams come in, more are eliminated.

In Week 4, there were two huge upsets among the top ten teams that will play a significant part in the playoff. The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners and No. 6 LSU Tigers each suffered significant losses to unranked teams.

This past week was the start of SEC play as all 14 teams started their 10-game schedules. Teams like No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Florida started their seasons strong against the Missouri Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels, respectively. There were also teams like No. 4 Georgia and No. 13 Texas A&M that struggled against two of the worst teams in the SEC in Arkansas and Vanderbilt, respectively.

While it wasn’t officially one of the worst losses of the week, the Tigers’ 44-34 to the unranked Mississippi State Bulldogs played one of the biggest roles in the playoff race. The Tigers needed to show that they could compete for the playoff as the defending national champions despite a heavy loss of players and contributors during the offseason.

Other major losses had a much more significant impact on their football team than the playoff. Here are the three worst losses from Week 4 of the 2020 season.
