2. Troy dominated late Saturday by BYU

The late-night matchup between the Troy Trojans traveling to take on the No. 18 BYU Cougars was one of the most unique Group of Five games in Week 4. The Trojans were looking to be more consistent after finishing last season with a 5-7 overall record. From the beginning to the end of the game, they could not find an answer against the ranked Cougars team.

The Trojans were out-gained in total yards 664-181 by BYU as well as first downs 32-8. They were only able to account for 19 rushing yards in 18 attempts throughout the entire game. The offensive line for the Trojans gave up four sacks and six tackles for loss. Quarterback Gunnar Watson threw for 162 yards on 21-of-33 passing while accounting for a 28.8 QBR. The offense was 2-for-14 on third-down conversions against this efficient Cougars defense.

The Trojans’ defense had a hard time stopping the Cougars’ highly-productive offense in the rushing and passing game. BYU’s offense accounted for 192 rushing yards on 48 attempts. Star quarterback Zach Wilson threw for 392 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions on 23-of-28 passing. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

The Trojans would have finished with one of the first worst losses in week four as the Cougars did not finish their final drive with a score before the final seconds came off the clock.
