2. Sam Hartman throws five touchdown passes

When Jamie Newman decided to transfer after the 2019 season, there’s a reason there wasn’t a ton of panic at Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons did lose an impressive starter and All-ACC talent at quarterback, but there was another guy with plenty of experience and who had shown the ability to take over games with his arm.

Sam Hartman was back to take over the reins as QB1 and that was music to the ears of Demon Deacon fans.

Hartman threw for over 1,900 yards and 16 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2018 before redshirting in 2019 while sitting behind Newman. He still managed to pass for 830 yards and four touchdowns. He can be a prolific passer.

Now that he’s the clear No. 1 option, he needs to prove himself capable of dominating lesser foes and he’s going to do just that against Campbell, throwing a career-best five touchdown passes, breaking his previous high of four against Rice in 2018.

Don’t be surprised when this kid turns a corner on Friday and makes a name for himself.
