2. Texas doubles season sack totals

The Longhorns’ front four wasn’t able to get much pressure on Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman. In fact, they never sacked him at all during the game and they had an extra period to do it. The Red Raiders’ quick pass offense was able to keep Bowman’s jersey clean all game long.

TCU’s offensive line had a nightmare of a game in their loss to Iowa State as Max Duggan and Matthew Downing combined for seven sacks taken. The Horned Frogs had no answer for protecting their quarterbacks in passing situations.

If Texas’ defense needs a bounce-back game, this would be the time to do it. The team has only racked up two sacks in two games. It appears to be a similar situation from last season as they only had 27 sacks all of 2019.

Texas has to figure out how to get to the young quarterbacks and rattle them throughout the game. TCU can’t trust their running game as the team combined for an average of 2.3 yards per carry. Duggan or Downing will have to carry the Horned Frogs’ offense which means plenty of opportunities for Texas to get some sacks. TCU could be in for a long day if their offensive line didn’t solve its game one issues.
