Tennessee football hosted Missouri in a must-win Week 5 battle. The Volunteers dominated early and coasted to their second win of 2020.

Jeremy Pruitt’s Tennessee team has been on a roll over the past year after starting the 2019 season on a sour note. The Volunteers are now 2-0 to begin a shorted 2020 season after smacking Missouri around 35-12 in Knoxville on Saturday.

The Volunteers are looking to climb in the AP Top 25 after ranking No. 21 last week and this blowout win over Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers should help matters. They are showing that the end of the 2019 season was no fluke and even with up-and-down quarterback play, the Volunteers are making some noise in the SEC.

Sure, Missouri is going to be a punching bag this season, but Tennessee needs to win these games comfortable and it did just that.

What did we learn from the Volunteers’ Week 5 win?

3. Jeremy Pruitt is quickly building a winner

After ending the 2019 season on an absolute heater, Tennessee has gotten off to a quick start this season with a win over South Carolina and then a blowout of Missouri.

While the first game may have been a little closer than expected, the Volunteers ran away with their second contest against the Tigers. They have now won eight straight games and nine out of 10 dating back to last season. Who would have thought that was possible after losses to Georgia State and BYU last year?

Jeremy Pruitt has done a fantastic job in just a few seasons and it looks like Tennessee may actually be for real this season, taking care of lesser opponents with ease.
