Week 5 is in the books and it was another wild one but is college football’s No. 1 team as clear as the AP Top 25 makes it seem? Let’s discuss.

The 2020 season has gotten off to quite the start. The Big 12 is a mess, the SEC is confusing and the ACC is deeper than it’s been in years with four playoff contenders leading the way.

The Big Ten and Pac-12 will be joining the rest of the nation here in a few weeks and the Mountain West will draw plenty of eyes as well after being reinstated, beginning their season in November. This doesn’t exactly feel like a normal fall, but we can thank COVID-19 for that.

Surprises have ravaged the college football world through five weeks. Oklahoma went from serious playoff contender and Spencer Rattler looked like a legit Heisman threat to dropping completely out of the rankings and the award race in just a few weeks. Texas also suffered some of the same fate, losing to TCU at home after looking unbeatable in their first game and then giving up 56 points to Texas Tech the following contest.

Alabama looks nearly untouchable, Arkansas led Georgia at halftime in the opener, but the Bulldogs have been dominant ever since and there’s a contingent of Texas A&M fans who are fed up with Jimbo Fisher and this mediocre start to the 2020 season.

Yes, college football is back, the new AP Top 25 has been released for Week 6, but my power rankings are more based on who’s hot and who’s not.

Let’s get into the power rankings for Week 6.
