3. Florida State bounces back but loses to No. 5 Notre Dame

The Florida State Seminoles (1-2, 0-2 ACC) have one of the worst starts to this 2020 season. The upset 16-13 loss at home to the Georgia Tech in Week 2 and the huge 52-10 loss at No. 12 Miami were both bad looks. The Seminoles were in serious trouble at home against Jacksonville State as they went into halftime down 21-14. They eventually made a change at quarterback to Jordan Travis. They got their first win of the season with 41-24.

More from ACC

Things do not get easier for the Seminoles as they must travel to face No. 5 Notre Dame (2-0, 1-0) in South Bend. Florida State enters this game as a 20.5-point underdog to the Fighting Irish. They are not given much a chance to compete here.

Travis’ first collegiate start will be against a top-five team in Notre Dame in a “hostile” away environment. In just one game for the Seminoles, Travis has shown to be the most promising quarterback going forward. He passed for 210 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-17 completions. He’s the most reliable quarterback for the Seminoles as he will likely be the kickstarter that the team needs to fully establish coordinator Kenny Dillingham’s electric offense.

The defense for the Seminoles have also yet to find their consistency three games into the season. Star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson has yet to explode for the Seminoles as he has accounted for eight total tackles and one sack. Look for some Florida State players to step up as they will face the obstacle of being a three-possession underdog.

The Seminoles will lose but will keep it close until late in the fourth.
