Clemson Football: 3 bold predictions for anticipated showdown vs. Miami
In what is the most highly anticipated matchups in this early college season, Miami is poised to make noise with an upset over Clemson football.
Finally, we get this years first highly anticipated game featuring the No. 1 Clemson Tigers (3-0) being tested against by an emerging No. 7 Miami (3-0) team whose offense looks totally different under transfer quarterback D’Eriq King and new coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
The Canes go to Death Valley ranked No. 7 in the nation and are riding high with a 3-0 record. Is The U “back”? The offense definitely looks revitalized. Vegas has the Hurricanes as a two-touchdown underdogs against Clemson. This is a fair evaluation. The Hurricanes haven’t won their past three games as a top-10 team, and they haven’t finished a season in the AP top 10 since 2003.
This game is a huge test for Miami who most college football analyst and writers see as not ready to take over the ACC. The tigers have a 24-win ACC streak and home winning streak.
Today we will take a look at three bold predictions that could or could not happen in Death Valley.
3. Miami will not keep up with Clemson
Despite Miami’s fast start this season on offense, the three wins they possess come from Louisville, Florida State and UAB who have all looked less than stellar to begin this season.
Clemson’s offense is off to a hot start. Trevor Lawrence has completed 55-of-75 passes (73.3 percent) for 848 yards and seven touchdowns against zero interceptions. Senior running back Travis Etienne is rushing for over six yards per carry.
The Hurricanes are no slouch on offense with new quarterback D’Eriq King and running back Cam’Ron Harris helping revitalize the offense. The Canes offense line was one of the worst last season. If the Tigers get any pressure on King and cause them to punt the Canes face a tough test stopping Lawrence and Etienne.
