3. Virginia (vs. NC State)

Virginia has a win over Duke and a loss to Clemson. NC State is 2-1, coming off an upset in over Pitt.

Last week NC State showed what kind of team they can be. They gave up their lowest point total of the season, even though 29 points is still too many. The bright side is they scored 30 points against a Pitt defense that had been one of the nation’s best.

North Carolina State has the ability to torch a Virginia defense that is giving up 30.5 points per game. Virginia is among the nation’s worst against the pass and the Wolfpack love to throw.

On the flip side, North Carolina State isn’t exactly elite against the pass either. Virginia could also throw with ease against the Wolfpack.

I’m still not totally sold on Virginia as a quality contender. North Carolina State has at least shown that they can beat a quality opponent and can battle back against adversity. If they can play the same quality game that they did last week, expect a win against Virginia.
