2. Florida’s defensive line and pass rush is elite

The Aggies’ offensive line has only allowed one sack through the first two games of the season. They played against a weak SEC East opponent in the Vanderbilt Commodores and Crimson Tide, where their weakest area on defense is their defensive line’s ability to create a significant pass rush. The Aggies have not faced a productive unit of pass rushers this season.

This Saturday, they will face the Gators’ defense which has accounted for 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Linebacker Ventrell Miller and Brenton Cox have contributed very well to create some chaos in the opposing offenses’ backfield. Miller has accounted for three tackles for loss and one sack while Cox has accounted for three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

One of their most impactful defensive linemen has been Zachary Carter, who was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for Week 5. Last week, he accounted for eight total tackles and 1.5 sacks in the 38-24 win over South Carolina. He has accounted for 11 total tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in just two games this season.

As the Gators; defense grows, so does their hunger in the chase for the SEC East title. The pass rush for the Gators will continue to develop over time but they will get a huge start in this game due to the stability of the pass rush and the Aggies’ inexperience of containing a dangerous defense.
