Notre Dame football is getting set to host a struggling Florida State team on Saturday night with playoff hopes on the line.

Notre Dame is off to a good start this season, beating two teams it should have, including a 52-0 molly-whopping of South Florida on Sept. 19 but the Irish have been off since, having a contest against Wake Forest postponed.

The Irish are looking to gain some momentum heading into the meat of their schedule and it begins on Saturday with a home game against Florida State.

And yes, this would be a “conference” game for the Irish this season as part-time members of the ACC. Notre Dame is smack-dab in the middle of a conference title race. Boy, was that weird to type.

What can we expect from Saturday’s primetime matchup?

3. Defense forces four FSU turnovers

Through two games, Notre Dame has forced a whopping two turnovers. Yes, you read that correctly; against a lackluster Duke team and hapless South Florida squad, Notre Dame has created just two turnovers. The Irish have a positive margin on the season by one, surprisingly, but they will double their forced turnovers on the season in just one game.

And Florida State will be the unfortunate victim.

Jordan Travis caught fire against Jacksonville State last week and helped lead the Seminoles to a victory but he’s going to face a much tougher defense in Notre Dame. The backup-turned-starter will get his shot to prove himself, but he’ll quickly realize this isn’t an FCS defense.

Travis will throw a couple of picks and he will split time under center and the backups will get strip-sacked and then throw another interception.

Good day for the Irish defense.
