South Carolina Football: 3 reasons the Gamecocks will beat Vanderbilt
1. South Carolina’s offense is comfortably ahead
Both teams are in the midst of “rebuilding” and are missing key players from last season, but the Vanderbilt offense took a bigger hit between the players who moved on and those who have opted out this year.
Vanderbilt is last in the SEC in passing yards and points per game and quarterback Ken Seals hasn’t been consistent in finding targets in the first two weeks of play.
The Gamecocks have also had some problems on the offensive line, especially with dropped balls and poor pass protection. Gamecocks starting quarterback Collin Hill shows strength and accuracy in his passes but has only been able to depend on Shi Smith consistently, and he is the biggest target of opposing defensive lines. Running back Kevin Harris has also been a lead contributor to the Gamecocks’ offensive line.
Both teams come into this week winless and will be hungry for their first victory of the season, however, South Carolina is the stronger of the two teams and will return home with the win.
