Texas Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Oklahoma in Week 6
2. Oklahoma won’t reach 100 rushing yards total
The Sooners have seen their share of changes at the running back position. Seth McGowan has been the featured back with 34 carries, 181 yards, and two touchdowns this season. TJ Pledger is second behind McGowan with 88 yards on the ground.
As a team, Oklahoma is averaging around 122 rushing yards per game. A position that was expected to be a concern for the offense has hurt them throughout the early part of the season. Big plays on the ground have not been produced with a 23-yard run by McGowan being the longest of the season.
This has added pressure on their freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler to step up and make plays through the air. The end result has been the team playing from behind and setting up opportunities for Rattler to make mistakes.
Texas had trouble stopping an effective TCU running game but held Texas Tech to 110 yards rushing in their game two matchup.
Understanding Oklahoma is reeling, the Longhorns have a chance to get back on track since their season still has hope. Their defense has enough talent to hold Oklahoma under 100 yards. If they can shut down the running game, Texas could force Rattler to make more turnovers.
