2. Alabama’s defense was gassed early and often

Guys, keep Pete Golding in your thoughts and prayers. Nothing is wrong with him, but he’s going to get a “butt chewing” from Nick Saban after Saturday’s disaster in Oxford.

The Crimson Tide defense surrendered over 600 yards of total offense to Ole Miss and while the Rebels have been torching teams all season, Alabama is supposed to be different. This defense is loaded with former blue-chip recruits, so allowing that type of offensive output against a 1-1 team is nothing short of unacceptable.

Whenever Alabama took a touchdown lead, Ole Miss would go down the field like it was nothing and knot things up. Luckily, the Crimson Tide held the Rebels to a field goal with about seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter which was the difference.

But that is still not acceptable for an Alabama defense.

This up-tempo Ole Miss offense wore the Crimson Tide down early and it led to some struggles in the third and fourth quarters.

Alabama has a lot of work to do moving forward on this side of the ball.
