2. Gamecocks have to step it up on defense

South Carolina’s defensive line didn’t have too many problems stopping the Vanderbilt offense, but then again, the Commodores do have the worst offense in the conference.

Ernest Jones was monumental in stopping the Commodores with 13 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack. Other than Jones no one else really stood out on the defensive side of the ball Saturday.

Jammie Robinson posted seven total tackles and Shiloh Sanders had six. The team posted 71 total tackles this game, the most of any game this season, but there were many missed opportunities that will cost the Gamecocks points when playing stronger opponents.
