With the revealing of the Week 7 AP Top 25, it is clear that there is a gap between the top teams in college football and the rest of the country.

The Week 7 AP Top 25 is a bit of a mess. After a very revealing Week 6, it’s clear that there is major separation between Clemson, Alabama and Georgia (feel free to include Ohio State in there as well) and the rest of the country.

Who is the best of the rest? Well that is changing from week to week.

After surging up to seventh last week, Miami was put in there place by Clemson in a 42-17 rout that was not even that close. Florida might have the best offense in the country, but the Gators’ defense could not stop Kellen Mond, who had just lost by four touchdowns to Alabama.

Tennessee was another team that surged up to fourteenth last week, but after a good first half, they were completely erased by the Georgia defense. Texas was officially removed from the playoff race after losing to Oklahoma in four overtimes. Notre Dame looked lackluster on defense in their 42-26 victory over Florida State, a team who has been a disaster so far this season.

But there were some teams that impressed.

North Carolina finally looked the part on offense, showing that they have a lot of talent on that side of the ball and could be the second best team in the ACC. Kansas State went on the road to Texas Tech and came away with a win while starting their backup quarterback. Iowa State looked good again and just might be the best team in the conference. One thing that is certain: there is a big mess after the top three or four teams in the poll.

Here are the winners and losers from the newly-released Week 7 AP Top 25.
