A team with a losing record and who wasn’t in my power rankings making the cut this week? Absolutely. It was a toss-up between Ole Miss and Arkansas here, but I’ve been so impressed with the Razorbacks this season that I felt they deserved the love. They should have won against No. 13 Auburn on the road on Saturday (robbed by the refs) and stayed with Georgia for a half and beat a ranked Mississippi State team. The culture has changed in Fayetteville and that 1-2 record is deceiving.

How the heck is NC State 3-1 right now? No one saw this coming, especially with the quarterback situation a little sketchy, but the Wolfpack beat a solid Virginia team on the road by 17 points in Week 6 and they also beat a ranked Pitt team and Wake Forest. The only loss for NC State this season was to Virginia Tech, but the Hokies were just smacked by North Carolina and these two teams switched spots in my power rankings.

Will Howard was given the nod to start on the road against a rising TCU team on Saturday with Skylar Thompson injured and that spelled disaster for Kansas State, right? Wrong. The Wildcats still found a way to win without their starting quarterback, holding a Max Duggan-led offense to just 14 points. Kansas State continues to prove that a season-opening loss to Arkansas State was a fluke.

I was still high on UCF last week even when the Knights were left out of the AP Top 25 because the Knights have been impressive through three games. Sure, they suffered an upset loss to an improving Tulsa team, but give me Dillon Gabriel and the Knights nine times out of 10 in that matchup. This is one of the best Group of Five teams in the country. Prove me wrong.

Jeremy Pruitt and the Volunteers looked hungry for an upset against Georgia on Saturday, and then the Bulldogs woke up and realized they have more talent and depth. Tennessee might be trending in the right direction, but it’s not a true SEC contender just yet. Maybe after the Jarrett Guarantano era.
