5. Stetson Bennett IV, QB, Georgia

Coming into the season, not many fans knew who Stetson Bennett was, and why should you? He was a three-star JUCO transfer who was clearly behind Wake Forest transfer Jaime Newman and USC transfer JT Daniels on the depth chart. Once Newman opted out it looked like JT Daniels would get the starting job but he wasn’t ready for the season opener against Arkansas.

Bennett was brought in after D’Wan Mathis struggled early. Since then, he has thrown for 689 yards and five touchdowns. Bennett’s numbers don’t look super impressive but he is getting respect from oddsmakers in the betting market, currently listed as the fourth or fifth favorite.

One of the biggest games of the year is this week with Georgia heading down to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama.

If Bennett is able to lead Georgia to a win that puts them in a prime spot to make the College Football Playoff, he could continue climbing the ranks and seriously compete for an invitation to the virtual Heisman ceremony.
