College Football 2020: 5 games with biggest playoff implications in Week 7
Week 7 of the college football season brings the biggest game of the year with other teams trying to prove they are legit.
Week 7 promises to be like anything we have seen thus far in the 2020 season.
After staying safe for the first few weeks of the season, the SEC has had two games postponed this weekend and the most prominent figure in college football, Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19, putting a spin on what should be the biggest non-playoff game of the season between No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia.
Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will take over operations of the football team while Saban is away and this would be a huge loss for Alabama if Saban is not able to coach on Saturday night against the Bulldogs.
Elsewhere on Saturday, the schedule may seem light, but there are several teams that are hoping to further prove that they are worthy playoff contenders.
Notre Dame hosts a reeling Louisville team that is looking to score an upset to salvage their 1-3 season. Notre Dame was uneven against Florida State last week and will need to be much better against an explosive Louisville team.
North Carolina proved that their offense is the real deal, racking up 56 points in their win against Virginia Tech last week and the Tar Heels will get Florida State this week. The Seminoles have been a disaster so far and will be hoping that they can keep it close and have a chance at an upset at the end.
This is a big weekend for the AAC. No. 8 Cincinnati travels to Tulsa who has already upset UCF this season and will be eager to knock off the Bearcats. UCF and Memphis face off in a game that has lost some luster due to both teams losing, but the winner could still be a factor in the Group of Five race for the New Year’s Six.
Here are the five games with the biggest playoff implications in Week 7.
