College football 2020: 4 teams that will be on upset alert in Week 7

4. Liberty (at Syracuse)

Imagine telling someone nine months ago that Liberty would be favored in a game against Syracuse that would have zero fans in attendance. People would be looking at you like you had three heads.

That’s exactly the situation we’re in. And at 4-0, Liberty goes to the Carrier Dome as a favorite against an ACC team that’s in some trouble.

Syracuse is 1-3 with their only win coming against Georgia Tech. Starting quarterback Tommy Devito is injured and out for the Orange, likely for the season.

But don’t sleep on his replacement, Rex Culpepper. Culpepper, a cancer survivor, is finally getting a shot to start. Syracuse should have an advantage with size and speed, and Culpepper will be ready to play out of his mind.

If the Orange defense can set the tone early and come up with a few big plays along the way, Syracuse should be able to pull this non-traditional upset.
