3. Just how good is this defense?

That’s a rhetorical question.

So far, the defense has held opponents to 38.3 rush yards per game and 12.3 points on average. They still have not allowed a rushing touchdown this year and did not allow a running back to score a single rushing touchdown last year.

They are a smart, instinctive group that is able to apply pressure with only the front four, and Kirby Smart often terrorizes opposing offenses with blitzes. It is a strategy that consistently stresses opponents and forces turnovers. If this group can slow down Alabama on Saturday, Georgia can win.

Bonus: Special Teams

You cannot talk about beating Alabama without talking about special teams, especially given Alabama’s kicking woes in big games.

Luckily for Georgia, kicker Jack Podlesny is 7-for-8 on field goals for the season and appears to be a reliable successor to former great Rodrigo Blankenship.

Also, keep an eye out for punter Jake Camarda. He was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week following an impressive performance against Arkansas. Field position could be the difference in this game.
