1. Arkansas’ second-half performance was just enough

The third quarter and beginning of the fourth were not very impressive for Arkansas. First, the Razorbacks’ defense gave up an early third quarter touchdown as Ole Miss trimmed their deficit by 13 points.

Arkansas’ offense then turned the ball over when Feleipe Franks fumbled the ball deep in its own territory. However, the Razorbacks defense came up big again as Matt Corral threw his third interception of the game as Arkansas defender Greg Brooks Jr. made the play on the ball. Then Arkansas had more misfortunes.

Franks on the following possession had his pass deflected in the air and it was intercepted by Mississippi defender Jon Haynes. But once again, Corral threw his uncharacteristic fourth interception of the day which ended up being the fifth turnover by Ole Miss. Unfortunately on the next possession, the Razorbacks’ offense went backward to end the third quarter.

Then things got interesting.

Then less than three minutes into the fourth quarter, Mississippi made it a six-point game as the Ole Miss running attack was able to score a touchdown. However, an offensive drive that lasted almost five minutes, the Razorbacks responded as Franks threw his first touchdown of the game to make it a two-score game again. The Arkansas defense struggled to stop the Rebels’ running attack at times throughout the game but the Razorbacks turnovers they created and caused was the difference in the game.

Arkansas’ offense in the second half was not amazing nor was its defense but each when really the Razorbacks needed, stepped up. However, it was the Razorback defense which gave Arkansas the victory. Very late in the fourth quarter, Corral threw yet again an interception and for the second time today, it was returned for a touchdown and this time it was Arkansas defender Grant Morgan who returned it for 23 yards for a much need Razorback touchdown.

The game would end in yet another Ole Miss thrown interception as the Razorback offense ran out the clock for the much-needed victory.
