2. Clemson’s defense balled out

What a stifling performance by the Clemson defense today. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne will always dominate the headlines. But what Clemson’s defense did today can not be understated.

The Tigers held Georgia Tech to just 204 yards of total offense. They were also clutch on late down situations, as Georgia Tech went 2-for-14 on third down and 0-for-3 on fourth down.

The defensive line had pressure on Jeff Sims all afternoon finishing with five sacks and three forced fumbles. Nolan Turner tacked on his second interception of the year to cap off a commanding performance by the Clemson defense.

To put this in better context, Clemson has yet to play a truly complete offensive attack. Virginia, Miami, and Georgia Tech all have mobile quarterback who aren’t very accurate downfield passers. But, you can only play who is on your schedule. In doing so, Clemson’s defense has dominated anybody who has come their way.

As we get deeper into the season the defensive unit will be tested by better competition. I do believe that they will be able to take care of any offense in the ACC and will not get a dent in the armor until we get to the playoff.
