College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 8
By Zach Bigalke
After suffering a 25-point defeat against Clemson a week earlier, Miami bounced back in Week 7 to earn its fourth win of the season against Pittsburgh. It was hardly the most inspiring of performances, as the Miami offense struggled against the Panthers. But at 4-1 in the standings and still very much alive in the ACC race, the Hurricanes will remain somewhere around the midpoint of the AP Top 25 this week.
D’Eriq King completed barely half of his passes, going 16-of-31 for 222 yards. King did throw four touchdowns, but he also tossed two picks to the Panthers. The quarterback also led the team in rushing — not necessarily a bright spot, given that he finished with only 32 yards on 11 carries. The Hurricanes finished with only 109 rushing yards as a team, but Miami’s defense proved even stingier as they held Pitt to 22 yards on 26 carries.
Next week Virginia comes to Florida to take on Miami in Week 8 action. After that they have a bye on Halloween, which means they could be somewhere back near the top 10 heading into November.
