College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 8
By Zach Bigalke
Alabama earned what is the best win of the season to date, toppling Georgia 41-24 at home in Week 7. As the last team standing undefeated in the SEC this year, the Crimson Tide should pick up some first-place votes in the AP Top 25. While they will still remain behind Clemson this week, Nick Saban’s team is going to pull much closer to the Tigers in the rankings after this runaway victory over the Bulldogs.
Mac Jones was the better quarterback on Saturday, completing 24 of his 32 passes to finish with 417 yards through the air and four touchdowns. Jaylen Waddle hauled in six of those passes for 161 yards and a score, while Devonta Smith also went into triple digits as he caught 11 balls for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Najee Harris racked up 152 rushing yards to offer some balance, and the defense did its part against young Stetson Bennett and the visitors.
In Week 8 the Crimson Tide travel to Knoxville for a belated Third Saturday in October matchup against reeling Tennessee. Mississippi State comes to Tuscaloosa on Halloween, and then Alabama gets a much-needed rest before they take on LSU in Death Valley.
