3. Notre Dame has issues with developing consistent offense

The same unit that gave up 46 points to Georgia Tech last week, was able to neutralize Notre Dame and their ability to score in the first half.

Louisville’s secondary in particular was impressive in limiting Ian Book and forcing him to scramble and at times, keeping the Irish behind the sticks.

Notre Dame’s play-calling has not benefited Book and his ability to pass the football. Notre Dame refused to throw the ball downfield and take their shots. Partly impacted by very good coverage from the Louisville defensive backs.

Book had no passes of over 20 yards as this is a serious concern if they want to compete with Clemson later on in the season. The Book of old would have to come alive for the later slate with Clemson and a road test against current No. 5 North Carolina.
