College football’s Week 8 AP Top 25 is here and it is showing continuing separation between the top two teams in the country and everyone else.

Week 7 gave us the most anticipated game of the year up to this point in the season and it showed that while their defense is still playing catch-up, Alabama is the top team in the SEC and it is not really close at this point.

After trailing 24-20 at the half, the Crimson Tide forced turnovers and hit big plays to capture a 41-24 win and Nick Saban moved to 3-0 against Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs.

Elsewhere in the country, we had some teams show their true colors and it turns out North Carolina, Auburn and Tennessee might have been a bit overrated. North Carolina suffered a shocking upset to Florida State and at one point trailed 31-7.

Auburn’s offense continues to struggle and some fans are questioning whether Bo Nix should continue to be the starter. Tennessee got blasted by rival Kentucky and quarterback Jarrett Guarantano had a meltdown. Notre Dame might have survived the upset bid by Louisville, but you have to wonder whether the Fighting Irish are really a top five team.

There were some teams this past weekend that made their case that they should be ranked or ranked higher. Coastal Carolina got a very impressive victory over Louisiana, Memphis broke a long losing streak to UCF and SMU kept their unbeaten season alive with an overtime victory over Tulane.

This weekend will be the first where we will get to gauge how good the Big Ten teams are and they will have a big opportunity to make a shakeup in next week’s AP Top 25.

Here are the winners and losers from this week’s AP poll.
