1. Florida State got the win it needed

To open the season, Florida State got a favorable matchup with Georgia Tech at home. It was supposed to be the perfect opportunity for Mike Norvell to start his tenure on the right note. That didn’t happen as Georgia Tech pulled off the upset, 16-13.

Then the Seminoles traveled to Coral Gables to take on an up-and-coming Miami team. The Hurricanes mopped the floor with the rival Seminoles, 52-10.

Florida State then picked up a win over FCS foe Jacksonville State which was expected, but it didn’t look easy as the Seminoles actually trailed at halftime. And then Notre Dame pulled away from the Seminoles after a tight first half, 42-26. It seemed like this team was never going to get on track. But that changed in Week 7 against North Carolina.

A win over the No. 5 team in the nation is only going to build confidence and it was exactly what this young Seminoles squad needed.
