The return of Boise State football may have been delayed, but the same expectations remain. How will the Broncos fare in 2020?

Boise State believes it’s time to reclaim what’s rightfully theirs: the right to call themselves the best Group of Five team in the country.

It’s not like Boise hasn’t been good. The Broncos have won 10 or more games in every year since 2016. But they haven’t represented the Group of Five in the New Year’s Six since 2014. That correlated with their lack of standing in the AP Poll: they haven’t finished ranked higher than 15th since 2011.

That doesn’t really speak to the success of that period. Since the beginning of 2012, the Broncos have an 83-24 record. Their worst season has been an 8-5 record. Boise has non-conference wins over Arizona, Washington, Virginia, Washington State, Oregon State, Oregon and Florida State.

So why hasn’t Boise had the bowl success?

It’s more about other teams. Since then, UCF has risen into a power. Western Michigan had a dream season.

If Boise State preforms well this year, that could all reverse course.

The schedule sets up nicely, including a non-conference game (a rare occurrence in 2020) that suddenly looks like one of the biggest games of the entire college football season.

Boise State is as usual lead by a solid quarterback, Hank Bachmeier. He’s been underrated nationally and a name you should know.

With kickoff finally days away, how will the Broncos fare in 2020?
