Boise State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2020
Game 1: vs. Utah State
Things get kicked off right away with a divisional game. This shouldn’t too much of a problem for Boise State, given just how much talent Utah State has lost.
Jordan Love was drafted in the first round and his backup transferred to Texas Tech. The Aggies top running back, receiver and linebacker David Woodward, probably Utah State’s top defensive player, are all gone.
Last year, Utah State was real bad against the run, ranking 110th in rush yards allowed per game. That doesn’t bode well for the Aggies considering George Holani is one of the most underrated players in the country and should run all over the Aggie defense.
This game shouldn’t be close.
Prediction: Utah State 13, Boise State 38 (1-0)
Game 2: at Air Force
The hot and cold effect of Air Force’s option offense makes really any of their games tough to predict.
Air Force is already 1-0 after a dominant victory over Navy. They ran wild on the Midshipmen while the defense didn’t allow much of anything to build for Navy.
Air Force’s defense could be a problem, as the defensive depth chart took a hard hit due to turnbacks, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. Five starters on defense are included in the roughly 40 players that won’t be available for the Falcons this year.
That could be enough for Boise State to get the win. The Broncos will have to make the most of the possessions as Air Force’s goal is to hold onto the ball for as long as possible. If Boise State maximizes points, it’ll be a nice road win.
Prediction: Boise State 27, Air Force 17 (2-0)
