Boise State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2020
Game 7: at UNLV
UNLV could be the worst team in the Mountain West. In fact, they’ve been mediocre at best for most of the last decade, only accounting for one winning record throughout the 2010s.
UNLV might be able to have some explosiveness on offense as a lot of their production returns this year. The problem will be defensively, where UNLV greatly struggled last year. They gave up 33 points and 443 yards of offense per game.
As bad as they were, they defeated Vanderbilt while holding them to 10 points.
Expect Boise to come out firing this game. They might need some “style points” at this point in the year, so expect no mercy.
Prediction: Boise State 52, UNLV 20 (6-1)
Game 8: at Wyoming
Another potential trap game, but Wyoming is probably too good to consider this a trap. This might be a good old fashioned slugfest.
Wyoming’s come a long way in a few years. Prior to Craig Bohl, the Cowboys regularly resided in the bottom half of the Mountain West. Things are much different now.
Wyoming could have the best defense in the conference and that alone will get them some wins. They were 11th in the nation in points per game allowed with 17.8 and did a great job against the run, ranking 12th.
Boise State’s opening will be the passing game. Wyoming gave up 256 yards per game through the air. Boise State will need to use that to their advantage. They don’t want Wyoming’s solid rush attack to hold the ball too long and turn the game into a game of keep away.
The game being on the road doesn’t help matters, but with a trip to the Mountain West Championship game on the line, the Broncos should come out with yet another win.
Prediction: Boise State 23, Wyoming 23 (7-1)
