2. Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0)

The Crimson Tide had one of their most difficult games in Week 6 against Ole Miss and they would go into Week 7 having to play their best opponent of the season in No. 3 Georgia. There was a lot of doubt that the Crimson Tide would have the defense to be able to stop the Bulldogs.

That doubt was erased as the Crimson Tide overcame a 24-20 deficit at halftime to beat the Bulldogs with a 41-24 score in Tuscaloosa. The offense faced the fifth-ranked scoring defense of the Bulldogs where they knew they would face some struggles. They didn’t stumble as much as experts thought as offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian called a great game.

Alabama’s offense accounted for 564 total yards, with 417 of them coming from the air, and 33 first downs. Mac Jones threw for 417 yards, four touchdowns and had a QBR of 97.7 on 24-of-32 completions. Najee Harris rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries. DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle each accounted for over 160 receiving yards against the Bulldogs’ highly-efficient secondary.

The Crimson Tide’s defense played much better against Georgia than it did against Ole Miss. They will look to be back to the prime defensive performance they had a few years ago. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding will need to be more efficient in productive play-calling.

The Crimson Tide will travel to Knoxville to take on SEC East rival Tennessee (2-2) as they are the only undefeated team left in the SEC.
