Ohio State football will open its much-anticipated 2020 season with a battle against Big Ten West foe Nebraska. Will the Buckeyes take care of business?

Big Ten football is back, folks. And the two teams that fought the hardest for the conference’s return this fall will be facing off in Columbus.

Ohio State will host Nebraska in Week 8 to kick off the 2020 season for each team and the Buckeyes are overwhelming favorites. In fact, Ohio State is considered one of the top playoff contenders this season and the only threat outside of Alabama and Clemson to win a national title.

Nebraska, on the other hand, is fresh off another disappointing season and Scott Frost is facing “win now” pressure. No one is predicting the Cornhuskers will win a conference title, but at least pushing for that top spot in the Big Ten West is expected.

What could we see from this battle of cross-divisional foes on Saturday?

3. Trey Sermon, Master Teague each rush for 100 yards

Trey Sermon will be playing his first game for Ohio State and there’s plenty of hope surrounding his arrival. He’s coming off a quiet season which was ended early and that came after a breakout 2018 campaign when he rushed for nearly 1,000 yards on 5.8 yards per touch for Oklahoma.

Master Teague was the projected starter before Sermon transferred in, hoping to replace JK Dobbins as that latest great Ohio State running back. He has the talent and the size, but he’ll have to split carries.

That sharing of backfield duties won’t matter much in the opener as the Buckeyes’ dynamic duo will run all over the Cornhuskers for 100 yards each.

Not a shabby start to the post-Dobbins era.
