1. Boise State is smack-dab in the New Year’s Six race

Some people don’t want to admit it, especially those in the Group of Five, but Boise State is now smack-dab in the middle of the New Year’s Six race.

Heading into the week, the Broncos weren’t receiving any votes in the AP Poll but had 37 votes in the Coaches Poll. They weren’t getting much love from the media but that should all change with the convincing win over Utah State. No, the Aggies aren’t exactly playoff contenders in their own right, but any time you can make a 42-13 win look at easy as Boise State did, it’s impressive.

Boise State put itself right back in the thick of the New Year’s Six race for the Group of Five, joining the likes of Cincinnati, SMU, BYU, Marshall and Coastal Carolina.

Bryan Harsin has another talented team and they should get some votes in the AP Top 25 this week and push for the New Year’s Six race in Week 9.
