College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9
By Zach Bigalke
Oregon is now only a fortnight away from the start of the Pac-12 season, and the Ducks continue to push back up the rankings. Entering Week 8, the Ducks had rebounded all the way back to No. 13 in the AP Top 25, only four spots off of their preseason ranking. Heading into the Halloween weekend, Mario Cristobal’s crew will continue to hover somewhere in the top 15 as they await their chance to return to the field.
The defense should be great once again in Eugene after allowing only 330 yards and 16.5 points per game en route to the 2019 Pac-12 championship and a Rose Bowl victory. Offense is another question, as the Ducks transition to a new quarterback at a point when they must also rebuild their entire offensive line.
Week 9 marks the last Saturday off for the Ducks before they open up the season on November 7 at home versus Stanford. We will get a better understanding about whether Oregon is a legitimate College Football Playoff contender in Week 10 when they take the field at an empty Autzen Stadium against the Cardinal.
