BYU Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Texas State
1. BYU looks like a lock to finish undefeated
Coming into the season, people expected BYU to be solid, but no one really thought that the Cougars would be 6-0 at this point in the year with a favorable remaining schedule.
In fact, the Cougars have four games remaining and they should be favored in each one. The only game left on the schedule that might cause any problems is a road game on Nov. 6 against Boise State. The Broncos proved to be a top New Year’s Six contender on Saturday night as they opened the season with a blowout win over Utah State.
Still, I see BYU beating Boise State and continuing its roll into the final two games of the season against North Alabama and San Diego State.
Let’s say the Cougars do take care of Western Kentucky and then Boise State, there’s no way they finish the regular season with any record other than 10-0. If that’s the case, we might be looking at BYU as a serious playoff threat.
Right now, BYU is No. 12 in the country but should move up to No. 11 or No. 10 after Week 8 and four more wins could have the Cougars in the top six, or so. Don’t sleep on this team come playoff time with a 10-0 record.
