College Football 2020: Winners, losers from Week 9 AP Poll release
Loser: Penn State (Down to No. 18)
What a disappointing start to the season for a Penn State team that had playoff aspirations.
The offense was terribly inconsistent for most of the day and the defense just collapsed at the end of the game after dominating for the large part of the afternoon.
The biggest takeaway for me is that this is yet another game where Penn State head coach James Franklin had terrible time management. When the Nittany Lions were up 21-20 and Indiana had one timeout, all Penn State had to do was kneel the ball and run the clock down. Franklin constantly finds himself in these positions of bad time management and it will be hard for the Nittany Lions to make that next leap if these problems persist.
Ohio State is up next for Penn State.
Loser: Iowa State (Down to No. 23)
Another team that has to feel it let an opportunity slip away is the Iowa State Cyclones. With win over Oklahoma State, the Cyclones would have taken a commanding lead in the Big 12 race and with a win over Oklahoma as well, a spot in the championship game would have been feasible.
While a spot in the championship game is still possible, this was a chance for Matt Campbell to get his program in the top 15. Another missed chance for the Cyclones and it could cost them.
