College Football Playoff 2020: Projected top 4 after Week 8
4. Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-0, 3-0 Big 12)
The No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys are likely the last hope for the Big 12 to have a team into the College Football Playoff. They are quietly one of the last teams in the nation to be undefeated and play more than two games.
The Cowboys came into Week 8 looking to mix up some certain schemes and offensive philosophies to see which quarterback would be best to start for the future. It was previously reported that the Cowboys would be looking to play both freshman Shane Illingworth and Spencer Sanders.
In the close 24-21 home win against No. 17 Iowa State, it was Sanders that got the start and played all the reps. He passed for 235 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and had a 72.3 QBR on 20-of-29 completions. Star running back Chuba Hubbard rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries for an average of 5.6 yards per carry.
The Cowboys did a good job of driving the ball in multiple drives as they out-gained the Cyclones 461-389. It was the two interceptions that could have been the killer for the Cowboys. They will have to be careful with the ball with they want to be taken seriously for the College Football Playoff. For this, they will need to stay undefeated throughout the remainder of the season.
This Saturday will be another huge test for the Cowboys as they will host the Texas Longhorns (3-2, 2-2 Big 12).
Sorry, Notre Dame, you still have some work to do.
