There were some bad losses in Week 8 of the 2020 college football season including the first losses of two teams and the decline of an SEC team.

This past Saturday was the beginning of Big Ten and Mountain West play. This was the first week where college football was beginning to see which teams are contenders for the playoff. This was also the week we saw more top teams fall from contention.

More teams lost in a significant fashion than any other week. There were more blowouts this week with some of them coming from the Big Ten.

One of the most noticeable losses was Nebraska’s 52-17 defeat against No. 5 Ohio State in the first week of the Big Ten season. Also, No. 21 Minnesota was looking to make a serious run for the Big Ten title after a fantastic season in 2019. Instead, the Gophers found themselves losing in embarrassing fashion 49-24 to No. 18 Michigan.

It was clear that the teams that played the top three teams in the nation found themselves losing by a wide margin. Clemson took down the Syracuse Orange at home 47-21 and Alabama took down Tennessee on the road 48-17.

Three teams had the biggest losses in Week 8 of the season. Two of the teams mentioned here have lost their first game of the season but have seemingly been eliminated from playoff contention. The other team is on a trend to make a serious set of changes.

Here are the three worst losses from Week 8 of the 2020 season.
