SEC Football Power Rankings, Week 9: Ole Miss crashes and burns
By Shelbie Warr
Vanderbilt hasn’t played in two weeks now, but unless a miracle happens in the coming weeks, they are at the bottom of the conference. This comes as a surprise to no one. Vanderbilt faces off against a struggling Ole Miss team in Week 9 and although Matt Corral has looked as if he is not the same quarterback he was at the start, I don’t see a less than motivated Vanderbilt defense knocking off the Rebels.
With those around them moving around, the Bulldogs fall two spots to No. 13. KJ Costello and the Bulldogs have struggled throughout the season after opening it by beating an LSU team that now has question marks on question marks surrounding them. Now, Mississippi State prepares to face off against Alabama, so don’t expect things to change too much for the Bulldogs.
I had given the Rebels the benefit of the doubt for a while, sitting them at No. 6 in my power rankings despite only having one win. Now, they are down six spots after falling to Auburn. Was it a questionable loss? Sure, Auburn has a bunch of those questionable wins. However, things seem to be falling apart at Ole Miss and that isn’t something that is looking good for the Rebels.
After being blown out by TJ Finley and LSU, the South Carolina Gamecocks are down two spots to No. 11 in the weekly power rankings. Yes, they beat Auburn, but losing to LSU after that, a team that was very much below them in the power rankings, things have gotten shaken up quite a bit. Now, the Gamecocks go into an off week before they prepare for the Aggies of Texas A&M.
