While most people still think of a college football upset as a traditional power losing to a lowly ranked, often Group of Five team, that’s not always the case.

This has been a season of hype in the Group of 5, as more G5 programs finding themselves ranked in the AP and Coach’s Polls. There’s even talk that Cincinnati has a shot at the College Football Playoff, something UCF was laughed at for saying they earned, despite a 25 game win streak.

Now, none of these games are predications. They’re just games where there is a clear favorite, who is also vulnerable for one reason or another.

1. FAU (vs. UTSA)

The Roadrunners are coming off three losses in their last four games as they travel to Boca Raton to take on defending C-USA champion FAU. Despite those losses, this is a UTSA growing in confidence.

In first year head coach Jeff Traylor’s first season, UTSA has already matched 2019’s win total. Add the fact that those three losses were close games against BYU, Army and UAB and UTSA is confident.

Meanwhile, FAU has been decimated by COVID-19. Over 40 players were inactive last week against Marshall due to COVID-19 related protocol. It’s hard to say what the Owls will bring to the game, but they’ve struggled offensively in their first two games. If that continues, they’ll be in trouble.
