College football’s Week 9 is highlighted by a Big Ten clash and two teams looking to further cement their statuses as contenders.

Week 8 was highlighted by the return of the Big Ten to the 2020 season and once again, the conference will take center stage this weekend.

Ohio State has been considered the favorite in the conference and one of the favorites to reach the College Football Playoff and they will have a chance to further solidify that claim when they travel to Happy Valley on Saturday night. Penn State will be trying to bounce back from an upset loss last weekend to Indiana and keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

While Ohio State is the big favorite, Penn State could turn the Big Ten and playoff races upside down in a major way if the Nittany Lions could find a way to pull off the upset.

While Ohio State and Penn State is the only matchup between ranked teams, that does not mean that there are not meaningful games on Saturday and these are the kind of weekends that can produce upsets that can shock the nation.

Georgia and Florida are two teams that can’t be caught looking ahead to their big matchup next week or they could risk major upsets. Texas A&M is a team that needs to be on upset alert with Arkansas coming to town. Notre Dame can’t afford to be looking ahead to a major matchup with Clemson next week while it travels to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech.

College football is one week away from adding the last major conference to the party when the Pac-12 begins play and that will make this unpredictable season even crazier. But that can wait until next week.

Here are the five Week 9 games that will have the most serious playoff impacts.
