2. Jack Sears was fantastic

When Boise State fans heard the news that Hank Bachmeier would be out for this one, there was a slight panic followed by the realization that Jack Sears was still on the roster.

The USC transfer lost the starting job to Kedon Slovis with the Trojans and picked Boise State after entering the portal. He had plenty of talent, but not even JT Daniels was wrestling that starting job away from Slovis in Los Angeles. It seemed like Boise State was a questionable destination because the Broncos already had Bachmeier.

Well, Sears got his chance on Saturday night and he didn’t disappoint.

Not many backups can get an emergency start and still finish with 280 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-20 completions. He had just as many touchdowns as incompletions and that shows just how much depth this team has.

Is there a quarterback controversy? Probably not, but Boise State fans have to feel good about their quarterback position if Bachmeier misses extended time.
