Coastal Carolina Football: 3 takeaways from romp of Georgia State

2. Grayson McCall had a perfect return
Last week, Grayson McCall was ruled out because of an upper-body injury against Georgia Southern. Backup quarterback Fred Payton performed admirably against the Eagles in the win. This week, Grayson McCall returned to the lineup and did not miss a beat in this game.
McCall, one of the best quarterbacks in the Group of Five, had a spectacular performance against the Panthers. The young quarterback went 18-24 for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. The offense is better when McCall is in the lineup. He is the catalyst for what they like to do offensively.
In the running game, he reads the defensive end well and understands when to pitch and keep. McCall is a good enough runner that defenses cannot key in on running back CJ Marable. If you force McCall to keep on the read, he can make you pay.
McCall is one of the highest-rated passers in college football. The redshirt freshman has thrown just one interception in 87 pass attempts. This is not a dink and dunk, bubble screen offense either. McCall throws the football down the field. Four receivers average over 15 yards per reception on the offense.
